Kanha Location : Located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha national park extends over an area of over 940-sq-kms. In 1930 Kanha area was divided into two sanctuaries called Banjar and Hallon of 300 Sq.km. and 250 Sq.km. It lies in Maikal mountain ranges.

How to Reach Kanha :

By Air : The Airport for Kanha National Park is the Jabalpur Airport at a distance of 165 km . Another airport for reaching kanha is the nagpur aiport situated at distance of 265 km. Ngapur airport has greater connectivity with leading cities of India.

By Rail : Nearest Railway Station for Kanha is the Jabalur railway station. Jabalpur railway station is 160 km from kanha

By Road : Kanha is very well connected by road with Jabalpur , Raipur , Nagpur and other nearby cities.

Best Time to Visit Kanha National Park : The visiting season to Kanha national park is within the months of April to June and November to January. The park is closed from July to Mid-October months, that is during the monsoon season. After monsoon, roads indside park are repaired and prepared for Jeep Safari for coming season. It is special right of Forest Department of Madhya Pradesh to decide the dates to open National Park for general public.

History of Kanha National Park: It is established as a National Park in 1st of June 1955 and declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1974.There are mainly two entrance gates of Kanha which are well known as Kisli and Mukki. 4 X 4 wheel drive gypsy vehicles regularly in morning and evening takes the tourist inside the National Park. The Surpan River meanders through Kanha's central meadows, grasslands that cover the extensive plateau. Steep rocky escarpments along the edges offer breathtaking views of the valley. Kanha Jungle Safari Timings :

1. 15 November to 15 February - Sunrise to 12.00 noon and 3.00 pm to Sunset

2. 16 February to 30 April - Sunrise to 1200 noon and 4.00 pm to Sunset

3. 1 May to 30 June - Sunrise to 11.00 am and 5.00 pm to Sunset
